Ties to the community

Our engagement with the city and support for local associations will help the project connect with the community. Through initiatives in environmental protection, culture, youth education, and the promotion of responsible digital practices, we aim to build in a way that fits the area and fosters long‑term local development.

Clear environmental goals

From planning through construction, the project is intended to follow strong environmental and social standards. These include energy efficiency, carbon reduction, local hiring, and attention to how the site fits into its surroundings.

FAQs

MRS6 is a planned Digital Realty data center project in Bouc-Bel-Air, near Marseille. It will be developed on the site of a former logistics warehouse and is intended to support businesses, cloud providers, and sovereign cloud hosting in France.

Bouc-Bel-Air was chosen because it helps meet several needs in France. It supports the development of competitive digital infrastructure and sovereign cloud hosting close to our existing sites in Marseille. Its location near Marseille is also important because Marseille is one of the world’s most connected internet hubs.

MRS6 is planned to provide 20,000 m² of IT space and 50 MW of IT capacity. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with delivery planned for 2028.

The project is expected to create about 25 permanent jobs and 100 indirect jobs, many of them technical roles. It is also intended to support a broader ecosystem of startups, businesses, and digital players in the area. Support for local associations and inclusion initiatives is also part of the project’s local approach.

Studies will assess the potential to recover heat generated by the data center for nearby offices, housing, or other industrial sites. This is part of the project’s broader effort to consider how the site can contribute to its surrounding area.
