Agile Data Centers: Scaling for Rapid Growth

Last week, CIO Review named Digital Realty one of the 20 Most Promising Data Center Solution Providers for 2015 and published a company profile that includes an interview with Matt Miszewski, our SVP of Global Sales and Marketing. In the profile, Matt observes, “The previous era, in which the data center consisted of four walls, a power feed, and a network feed, is done; the value of today’s data center is now found in the analysis and exchange of data.”

Of course, data centers will continue to support the need to store ever-increasing amounts of data. And according to a recent study by Cisco, the volume of data continues to increase. Global IP traffic has increased more than fivefold in the past 5 years, and will increase nearly threefold over the next 5 years.

One of the points Matt makes in the article is that having access to the right connectivity options is likely to be a top priority for companies looking to effectively store, exchange, and analyze their data.

Digital Realty supports access to a variety of interconnection and network options, such as Open-IX. As Matt points out, “We embrace a more open Internet peering model to liberate our clients from the constraints of the industry’s traditional peering models, which historically have not been very open.”
