Amsterdam ranks in the top 15 innovative cities across the globe
Amsterdam is currently ranked 13th among the world’s leading digital cities, just behind London, Paris and Seoul who came in 6th, 9th and 12th place respectively.
The research also provides insight into which innovative data-based technologies will have a major impact worldwide in the next ten years, identifying four technologies are: artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT), blockchain and 5G.
These four technologies contribute 1.29 billion euros a year to the Amsterdam economy, according to the study. At the rate at which society is digitising, this will amount to more than 4.80 billion euros in 2029.

If businesses want to benefit from, and even help increase, the €4.80 billion p.a. that AI, IoT, Blockchain and 5G are estimated to contribute to the Amsterdam economy by 2029, they need to act today. The economies of digital capitals around the world will only continue to grow, albeit at different speeds, depending on a number of factors such as economic and government stability.
