To say that Amazon Web Services, or AWS, has taken the public cloud by storm would be an understatement. According to a financial earnings report from earlier this year, AWS pulled in $4.6 billion in revenue in 2014—up 49% from the year before.

Amazon has reported a "multi hundred thousand customer base spread across 190 countries;" this customer base is made up of government agencies, nonprofits, and educational institutions, to name a few large users. In fact, Telx customers can connect directly to AWS via a single cross connect from the Telx data center facility.

Needless to say, AWS is big in the public cloud space. Given Amazon's large customer base, it's no surprise that there's a constant need to review best practices and new AWS services. And that's exactly what AWS re:Invent, the annual user conference for Amazon Web Services, is all about.
