PTC’16: Reimagining Telecoms, this year’s installation of the annual conference hosted by the Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC), was a great way to kick off the year, as always. Now that we’re back from Hawaii and settling into our normal work routines, we thought we’d recap this year’s conference.
This year, Digital Realty | Telx was a Platinum Sponsor of the conference. Several members of the Digital Realty and Telx teams attended the event in Honolulu, and we couldn’t be more pleased with how things went.
The conference kicked off early for us with Telx’s Anthony Rossabi being elected as President and Chair of the Board of Governors of PTC on Saturday. Please join us in congratulating Anthony on his new position! We can’t wait to see what he and the rest of PTC’s Board of Governors, Advisory Council, and membership are able to accomplish.
On Sunday, we started the celebrations early with our annual Sunday Football brunch event, cheering on the Broncos and getting lots of business done as we overlooked Waikiki Beach. That’s become a tradition for us at PTC, and it was a hit with everyone who attended.
On Monday, Chris Sharp, Digital Realty CTO, joined a panel on how networks will need to change for the Internet of Things, which discusses network evolution for IoT. With a full day of meetings and PTC activity, we wound down the day and hosted a cocktail reception at Kalia Pool which was capped off by a magnificent sunset on Monday night. Tropical cocktails were crafted and a pig was roasted while cloud analyst Joe Weinman (@joewienman) took a great photo at the reception, as did Andrew Baird (@androobaird), Telx’s Sr. Director of Marketing and Communications.
On Tuesday, Anthony Rossabi introduced Bill Barney's (CEO, Reliance Communications and Global Cloud Xchange) morning keynote. And finally, on Tuesday afternoon, Jarrett Appleby, Digital Realty COO, joined other panelists to talk about the shifting data center. In that panel, Jarrett discussed how Digital Realty is building a global array of dynamic solutions powering customer growth and collaboration—all on a foundation of unique real estate experience.
Like it has in years past, PTC’16 provided our team with a healthy mix of fun, business, networking, insight, and of course, great weather. We’re glad we were able to participate in this year’s conference. Needless to say, we had a great time at PTC’16 and are already counting the days ‘till PTC’17!
